Well. Creativity ;3 In the background are wavy shapes that can be either the Mountains that I love or the Water that I love. Tried to make the things she's drawing a little petroglyph-ish ;3
I am very, VERY happy with how this came out. It turned out excatly how I wanted it, and I consider it one of my best pieces so far. There are flaws (like the head is a little too big, at some places it's a little messy, my signature didn't turned out that well, and her right arm (holding the bowl) is just terrible.. xD Also the lightning is VERY odd - there's actually no lightsourse.) but I am still very fond of it. I really like the colours, and how the background came out looking a little like a dirty stained glass window. It turned out a little.. iconic, with an ''aura'' around her head. This is done mainly for the purpose of making something pretty - I am not saying that I think bears are saints/holy, or anything like that. x}
Mostly watercolours, I consider this my first real watercolur painting (also used a little white acrylic, but that's paint too xP). However, I also used a little Derwent Drawing pencils + coloured pencils for touchups. It's big as an A4 (a few cm smaller).
Please note that the original is better, and that this is a photo (since I still have no wokring scanner). My digital camera sort of butchered colours as well as the details, but not so much I can't live with it x}
Your art and ideas about bears remind me very much of those of the Cherokee Indians, which have influenced my love of bears and my own bear persona greatly. Your art would be VERY popular where I live.
This piece I really love. Thank you for sharing it.
heheh I was gonna say it reminded me of the religious icons I grew up around . Its actually very suiting to Wursu seeing as your name is Vera which means faith in Russian . I think this is definetly a piece you have bragging rights on. It is very sound compositionally and flows nicely. I really enjoy the natural feel to your pieces, they are just entirely peaceful! Well done and you must teach me how to paint with watercolors as I am HOPELESS!
Amazing. Some flaws, yes, but I don't think they ruin it at all. It really is gorgeous. I love the paw dipping into the bowl, and her face. Background is great too.
Now, question, how do you do that with watercolour?! I've seen bunches of paintings done in watercolours before that look like this too, and I don't get how you can do it. It looks like acrylics! o.O
Wow, you're right, Wursu, this is one of the very very best ones you've done yet. (not my favorite, but really close)
I really love how the background came out, and the whole concept is excellent. I love the little glyphs, and it sort of has a "madonna" feel to it (art madonna, not singer madonna)
